Collaboration for Patient Centered Care”
Stacy Payne, MA
Transformational Leadership. Emotional Intelligence. Leadership with Heart.
Stacy Monohan Payne is a leadership strategist and organizational development expert with more than 15
years of experience helping professionals strengthen communication, teamwork, and emotional intelligence -
skills essential to excellence in clinical care. As the Personal Development Director at Chelsea Milling Company,
she serves on the executive leadership team and leads initiatives that build strong workplace cultures, develop
leaders at every level, and ensure that critical knowledge and expertise are successfully passed from one
generation of professionals to the next.
In her role, Stacy designed and implemented a comprehensive knowledge-transfer program that preserves
essential institutional experience - work that parallels the importance of mentorship and clinical handoffs in
medicine. She also developed multi-tiered leadership curricula for frontline supervisors, focusing on real-time
problem-solving, communication under pressure, conflict resolution, and effective team engagement. Her
partnerships across departments, including Compliance and Information Systems, highlight her ability to
translate complex processes into practical learning tools that elevate performance and improve outcomes.
Prior to joining Chelsea Milling Company, Stacy worked as a leadership consultant across numerous industries,
including healthcare, coaching emerging leaders, new supervisors, and senior executives. She has extensive
experience helping individuals strengthen emotional intelligence, navigate high-stakes situations, manage
workplace conflict, and build high-functioning, resilient teams. Her facilitation work often centers on fostering
trust, improving communication, and creating environments where people feel supported, respected, and
empowered to contribute.
For more than 16 years, Stacy has also served as an invited speaker for the Southeast Michigan Center for
Medical Education (SEMCME), presenting annually at the Chief and Senior Resident Workshop. Her sessions,
especially those using the DiSC personal development framework - help residents refine leadership,
interpersonal awareness, and collaborative skills that are critical to success in clinical training and patient
care.
Stacy holds a Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling with an emphasis on career and employee
development from Eastern Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts from Oakland
University. Known for her clarity, warmth, and deeply practical approach, she is committed to helping current and
future healthcare leaders strengthen the human side of medicine - communication, teamwork, self-
awareness, and the ability to lead with both courage and compassion.
