KEYNOTE ADDRESS




                        Dr. Panagiotis Galanopoulos, MD '07
                        Dr. Panagiotis Galanopoulos is a distinguished family physician and healthcare leader who
                        exemplifies the global impact of a Ross University School of Medicine education. After
                        earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from RUSM in 2007, Dr. Galanopoulos completed
                        his Family Medicine residency at the University of Louisville, where he was recognized with
                        the Quality Scholar Award and Excellence in Medical Student Teaching Award.
                        Dr. Galanopoulos has spent most of his medical career serving communities in Kentucky,
                        first as a resident at the University of Louisville Department of Family and Geriatric
                        Medicine, then as a family practitioner in Hopkinsville. His commitment to medical
                        education led him to serve as gratis faculty at multiple institutions, including the University of
                        Louisville School of Medicine, University of Kentucky School of Medicine, and University of
                        Western Kentucky. He also served as the US resident representative to the NAPCRG board
                        of directors, demonstrating his leadership in family medicine at the national level.
                        Recently, Dr. Galanopoulos transitioned back to his native Canada, where he continues his
                        practice in outpatient family medicine while taking on significant healthcare leadership roles.
                        He currently serves as Physician Lead and Owner of Blue Water Medical in Vancouver,
                        Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Vancouver Division of Family Practice, Chief
                        Medical Officer at Utu Health Technologies, and Community Chief Medical Officer at Fraser
                        Health. His professional interests include obesity medicine, addiction medicine,
                        complementary medicine, teaching both medical students and residents, and using
                        telemedicine to help patients overcome obstacles to medical care.
                        Dr. Galanopoulos holds dual board certifications from both the College of Family Physicians
                        of Canada and the American Academy of Family Practice, reflecting his commitment to
                        excellence in family medicine across both countries. He has remained deeply connected to
                        Ross University School of Medicine, serving on the Alumni Board since 2012. His journey
                        from RUSM student to international healthcare leader demonstrates the transformative
                        power of medical education and the global reach of our alumni network.

                             The Physician's Pledge
                          As a member of the medical profession: I solemnly pledge to
                       dedicate my life to the service of humanity; The health and well-being
                               of my patient will be my first consideration;
                            I will respect the autonomy and dignity of my patient;
                              I will maintain the utmost respect for human life;
                    I will not permit considerations of age, disease or disability, creed, ethnic origin,
                     gender, nationality, political affiliation, race, sexual orientation, social standing
                         or any other factor to intervene between my duty and my patient;
                              I will respect the secrets that are confided in me,
                                   even after the patient has died;
                          I will practice my profession with conscience and dignity and
                               in accordance with good medical practice;
                       I will foster the honour and noble traditions of the medical profession;
                            I will give to my teachers, colleagues, and students the
                                 respect and gratitude that is their due;
                        I will share my medical knowledge for the benefit of the patient and
                                  the advancement of healthcare;
                         I will attend to my own health, well-being, and abilities in order
                                to provide care of the highest standard;
                         I will not use my medical knowledge to violate human rights and
                                  civil liberties, even under threat;
                         I make these promises solemnly, freely, and upon my honour.
