Morning Session
Tamara Amponsah, MD ‘23
Rush University Medical Center; PGY1 Emergency Medicine
Dr. Amponsah is from Vancouver, British Columbia and joined Ross in
September of 2018, spending her first semester in Saint Kitts.
Dr. Amponsah is currently a PGY1 EM resident at Rush Medical Center in
Chicago. Dr. Amponsah has many memories of her time as a “Rossie” and enjoys sharing her experience. Outside of
medicine, Dr. Amponsah enjoys travel, scuba diving, cooking, and collecting plants.
Afternoon Session
Tyana Gross, MD ‘22
University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria; PGY1 Pediatrics
Hailing from Killeen, Texas, Dr. Gross’ passion for pediatric care led her to
medical school at RUSM, where she not only excelled academically but also
actively engaged in various organizations, including the Ross Pediatric
Student Interest Group, Ross Christian Fellowship, and the American Medical Women’s Association.
Dr. Gross completed her core rotations in Far Rockaway, New York, at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, and elective rotations in the
cities of Chicago, Miami, and Los Angeles. In May 2023, Dr. Gross graduated with Highest Honors, a testament to her
unwavering commitment to excellence. She is currently serving as a PGY-1 pediatric resident at OSF Children's Hospital of
Illinois in the city of Peoria and is interested in specializing in Child Abuse Pediatrics. In her spare time, she enjoys documenting
her residency journey on her blog at: becomingdrg.com to help inspire the next generation of young doctors who will one day
be in her shoes.
Katerina Litvinova, MD ‘19
Mount Sinai Hospital, PGY4 OBGYN
Dr. Litvinova is a fourth-year obstetrics and gynecology resident at Sinai
Chicago. She graduated from Ross University with high honors in May 2019 and
a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience in 2012 from University of Illinois at
Chicago. Dr. Litvinova immigrated from Kiev, Ukraine to the Chicagoland area in 1997 with her family. Dr. Litvinova interests in
residency include gynecologic surgery and teaching. Her hobbies outside of medicine, include long distance running and
traveling.
Sandra Sakkal, MD ‘22
UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange; PGY1 Family Medicine
Dr. Sandra Al-Sakkal was born in Denver, CO where she spent the early part of
her childhood before moving to the Chicagoland suburbs at the age of nine. She
attended Loyola University Chicago where she studied English and Pre-
Medicine, two passions she hopes to combine through medical writing in the future. Dr. Sakkal completed her medical
education at Ross University School of Medicine and is currently completing her residency training in Family Medicine at the
University of Chicago AdventHealth La Grange Family Medicine Residency Program. Her training is focused on preventative
medicine, serving underserved populations, and becoming a well-rounded primary care physician. She particularly enjoys caring
for multiple generations of families and pediatric populations.
