The Ross Years and Beyond: Alumni Presentation

Jasmine Bajwa is one of the current chief residents in Psychiatry at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital
and a proud Rossie from the Class of 2021. A native of Los Angeles, Jasmine’s dream of becoming
a physician became a reality through Ross University School of Medicine.

         Jasmine Bajwa, MD
Chief Resident, Reflecting fondly on her time in Dominica, Jasmine recalls, “They used to say that if Christopher

PGY4 Psychiatry Columbus sailed today, Dominica would be the only island he’d recognize - and they were right. It’s

         RUSM Class of 2020
still the most beautiful and magical place I’ve ever seen.”

Jasmine matched into her top-choice psychiatry program at St. John’s, where she began her
residency as Head of Wellness and has since gone on to serve proudly as Chief Resident. With
residency now coming to a close, Jasmine is excited to return home to Southern California, where
she will be working in a combined outpatient and emergency department attending role.

Born and raised in Detroit, MI, Andrew earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from
Arizona State University. Initially thinking his academic journey was behind him, nearly a decade
later he rediscovered his passion for learning and set his sights on a career in medicine.

That decision led him to Ross University School of Medicine—back when the campus was still on
Dominica. His path was anything but typical: surviving a hurricane that displaced the campus,

Andrew Riggert, MD completing his medical sciences on a temporary campus, and navigating clinical training during

PGY4 Psychiatry the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the disruptions, Andrew matched into his top-choice psychiatry residency at St. John's
Episcopal Hospital, where he is now just months away from completing residency and stepping
into his new role as an attending psychiatrist. He credits Ross for preparing him to handle
uncertainty with resilience and for giving him the foundation to thrive in residency and beyond.

Daniel Eleyahouzadeh is a second-year psychiatry resident at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. Born
and raised on Long Island, NY, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Queens College
before beginning medical school at Ross University School of Medicine in 2018, starting his
journey at the temporary Tennessee campus.

With a longstanding passion for medicine and a deep commitment to helping vulnerable
populations, Daniel has always been especially drawn to working with children, adolescents, and
      Daniel Eleyahouzadeh, MD

PGY2 Psychiatry underserved communities. During his core rotations at St. John’s, he was struck by the breadth

RUSM Class of 2023 and complexity of psychiatric pathology he encountered, which further solidified his desire to
                               continue training at the institution.

As a native New Yorker, Daniel was grateful for the opportunity to stay local and grow
professionally within the same community he calls home. He aspires to become a child and
adolescent psychiatrist, with plans to serve at-risk youth and support the neurodivergent
                               community throughout his career.
