KEYNOTE ADDRESS
Ryan Azarkhail, MD ’23
Dr. Ryan Azarkhail was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida from Iranian-
European descent. Shaped by his love for his family and community,
he went on to attend the University of Central Florida where he
earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences. Before enrolling at
Ross University, Dr. Azarkhail spent 4 years working as a healthcare
recruiter. During that time, his passion for the community led him to
coach high school basketball, host food drives for the homeless
through the Broward Partnership, assist refugee families through the
Refugee Assistance Alliance program, and mentor middle school
students.
During his time in Basic and Clinical Sciences, championing the voice of the student body and serving the
RUSM community was always at the heart of his medical school journey. He served multiple leadership roles,
including CSGA Honor Council Senator, SGA Class Representative, Welcome Committee Member, IMF
Orientation member, CAAM-HP school reaccreditation committee member, and Student Ambassador.
However, his greatest achievement came when he was elected as the 2nd ever SGA President for the new
Barbados campus in May 2019. Lastly, he was selected as Student Commencement Speaker for May 2023
Graduation. Embodying the resilient, passionate, and enduring spirit of the RUSM community has and always
will be the greatest honor and privilege for Dr. Azarkhail. As of July 1st, he is currently in his first year of Internal
Medicine residency at Wellstar Kennestone in Marietta, GA.
"If I learned anything about succeeding in medical school, it's that it takes a village. The RUSM student body,
faculty, and advisors were that village for me."
