                                            in Medical Education and Healthcare”

                                                   Vijay Rajput, MD, MACP, SFHM

Dr. Vijay Rajput is a passionate medical educator, accomplished clinician, and dedicated mentor who brings over two

decades of experience to shaping the next generation of physicians. As a Professor and Chair of the Department of

Medical Education at Nova Southeastern University’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine, he continues to

redefine medical education with a deep commitment to innovation, humanism, and excellence in teaching.

Dr. Rajput's career is distinguished by leadership roles that have transformed medical training programs. He previously

served as the Head of the Division of Medical Education in the Department of Medicine at Cooper Medical School of

Rowan University (2010–2015), where he played a pivotal role in curriculum design and faculty development. As the

founding Assistant Dean for Clinical Curriculum at Cooper (2010–2013), he spearheaded initiatives that enriched

student learning and clinical preparedness. Prior to that, he was the Program Director for Internal Medicine at Robert

Wood Johnson Medical School in Camden, NJ (2004–2012), shaping the careers of countless physicians.

Beyond his administrative leadership, Dr. Rajput has made significant scholarly contributions to medical ethics,

curriculum innovation, and assessment. A former Associate Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for

Bioethics (2009–2013), he has worked at the intersection of ethics, professionalism, and patient care. For two decades,

he played a crucial role as a senior note rater for the USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills Examination, ensuring rigorous

assessment of future physicians. His scholarly work includes over 130 publications spanning research articles, book

chapters, and abstracts, alongside more than 200 presentations at regional, national, and international conferences.

His contributions extend to editorial boards and peer-review panels, influencing the landscape of medical literature.

Dr. Rajput’s dedication to medical education has earned him numerous accolades, including over fifteen “Excellence
in Teaching” awards from students, residents, and national organizations like ACGME and SHM. His impact was
nationally recognized in 2011 when he received the ACGME Parker J. Palmer “Courage to Teach” Award, the most
prestigious honor for physician educators. In 2005, he was inducted into UMDNJ’s Master Educator Guild, a testament
to his lifelong commitment to shaping compassionate and competent physicians.

What truly sets Dr. Rajput apart is his teaching philosophy—blending bedside learning with humor, storytelling, and
interactive discussions to create an engaging and dynamic learning environment. He firmly believes that self-
deprecating humor, when used effectively, enhances retention and fosters a deeper connection between learners and
patients. His primary interests include bedside teaching, medical ethics, professionalism, student well-being,
               mentorship, and curriculum development.

With a career dedicated to advancing medical education while keeping patient-centered care at its core, Dr. Rajput
remains an influential force in shaping the future of medicine.
