Dr. Jean-Dominique Foureau is a trailblazing first-generation Haitian Ameri-
can physician, making history as the first Haitian American Emergency Medi-
cine physician in Broward Health’s history and one of the first—if not the only—
Haitian American Emergency Medicine Battalion Surgeons for the Florida Army
National Guard. His journey is a testament to resilience, leadership, and a pas-
sion for service.
Born to Haitian immigrant parents, Dr. Foureau’s path to medicine was forged
through dedication and perseverance. He earned his Bachelor of Science in
Exercise Science from Florida State University in 2015. Shortly after gradua-
tion, driven by a deep commitment to service, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic (68W). His
military experience instilled in him the discipline and medical expertise that would later define his career. After
years of frontline medical service, he pursued his dream of becoming a physician and transitioned to the role
of Emergency Battalion Surgeon for the 2-124 Infantry Battalion in the Florida Army National Guard, where he
oversees emergency and operational medical care, trains medics, and advises military leadership on
healthcare operations.
Dr. Foureau earned his Doctor of Medicine from the American University of the Caribbean (AUC) in 2021,
where he was not only dedicated to his medical studies but also to mentorship and community impact. He
founded IMPACT, a mentorship program designed to support underprivileged youth and orphans, and imple-
mented a scholarship program with the Black Medical Students Association (BMSA) at AUC to assist aspiring
physicians from diverse backgrounds.
Following medical school, he completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Broward Health, serving as
Chief Resident from 2021 to 2024. Now an Emergency Medicine Physician with Envision Healthcare, Dr.
Foureau practices across multiple Florida hospital systems, including HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin, Ovie-
do, Poinciana, South Tampa, Osceola, Gulf Coast, and more.
Fluent in Haitian Creole and conversational in Spanish, Dr. Foureau has the unique ability to connect with and
care for a wide range of underserved and immigrant patients. His language skills allow him to break down
barriers to care and ensure patients feel heard, understood, and respected in vulnerable moments.
Beyond his clinical and military service, Dr. Foureau is a passionate mentor. He founded Desk to Docs, a
mentorship program at Broward Health that connects high school students with careers in medicine, and es-
tablished the Young Legends Scholar Foundation, which provides scholarships and mentorship to graduating
high school students.
Dr. Foureau’s impact has earned him numerous accolades, including the HCA Poinciana Physician Award of
Recognition, the Broward Health Quarterly Shining Star Award, and the U.S. Army Achievement Medal. A
dedicated athlete, he participates in annual triathlons and marathons, embodying the resilience and discipline
he brings to every aspect of his life.
Through his work in emergency medicine, military service, and mentorship, Dr. Foureau continues to uplift his
community and inspire the next generation of medical professionals.
