Lunch was a traditional roast and home-made apple
pie, followed by a drive around town with Bill as our
chauffeur and tour guide! Stopped into St Mary’s
Convent and Sacred Heart Church. The O’Brien’s’
often visited ‘Linton’, the property Margaret and Bill
owned for decades, and where they raised their
children. Linton was 2500 acres – around 700 was
used and the rest was wild country. Margaret and
Bill farmed sheep for meat and wool and grains –
oats, barley and wheat. They gradually sold off part
of the property leaving only the 700 acres and
found, by the late 80’s, that it wasn’t making enough
th
to keep them. So, they sold Linton on 14 April 1989
and moved to town.
