Page 28 - Everyone a Writer Anthology 2021
P. 28
On March 24th 2020, the world started to cry,
No more hugs, no more kisses,
We all slumped down at home,
Hoping, waiting, listening,
Wildlife started to flourish,
Animals of all kinds were seen,
Badgers and foxes,
Deer and sheep,
All were living lavish,
In the quiet and deserted city,
Then the world went psychotic,
People stopped obeying the rules,
Protests carried out on BLM,
The murder of George Floyd occurred,
And then we all were at realisation,
We were evil, Protests of race and sexualities made history,
And the world was cruel, The punishment was by the earth,
We need each other,
The UK, We need the earth,
China, We need the sky,
Americas, We need the ocean,
And all the other major countries had come to a We need the air,
halt, Without it we will perish,
A deeper understanding in life came to us all,
A lockdown, No more hugs, no more kisses,
A silence, We all slumped down and listened to Boris,
A cry And lockdown changed us all,
While we stayed and sat, The world stopped,
Maybe made friends with a cat, Someone meditated,
Or made a game, Someone sang,
We realised the world isn’t about fame, Someone prayed,
Or money gain, Someone danced,
It is about love and care, Someone met their shadow,
Happiness and sadness, And we all thought about how we could do better,
All cooped up and hiding away,
While we are farmed by this invisible killer,
The world is a big game of hide and seek,
But we are being prayed on by this anguished
disease
Covid 19 please stop
And return us to our normal lives of joy and peace.
