And people froze
And baked and went for walks
And slept and sang Sat around the TV,
And played and clapped The Prime Minister was who we heard,
And people were kind Ordering the nation to stay at home.
And suffered then healed
And dreamed of others Official statistics, charts and graphs,
Someone helped Government workers
Someone made us proud Telling us facts that didn’t make us laugh
Someone protected the world
Someone made a vaccine Covid-19 is its name,
And people began to change Changed the whole world
And people healed Now nothing’s the same
And the world healed.
Keyworker children, stuck at school,
Billie Craig Playing not learning,
Greenhill While their parents are working,
It feels so cruel
Death in the care homes,
In hospitals too,
Scared and alone,
Are me and you
On video calls,
Using zoom, meet and teams
The New Normal “You’re on mute!”
We all look like fools
Normal,
Normal was a range of things Wash your hands, stay apart
Normal was children learning and adults working, No friends, no family,
Normal was children playing together in the park and It breaks your heart
adults catching up over a glass of wine
Then the world froze, Nature restoring, pollution down
Normal was now that we would have considered bizarre Goats in the village
before, Roaming around
Normal was now two meters away from everyone,
Normal was masks no matter where you go,
Normal was families stranded away from each other, The year the world stopped,
What was once normal is now the past. Different for all
Vaccines are coming
