Use the following steps to graph an inequality in two variables: Step 1: Solve the given inequality for y.
Step 2: Solve the inequality as a linear equation and draw the graph of the linear equation.
When the inequality does not have an equal to sign (< or >), use a dashed or a dotted line because the solution can never lie on the line.
When the inequality has an equal to sign (≤ 𝑜𝑟 ≥), use a solid line because the solution can never lie on the line.
Step 3: Shade the area which satisfies the equation.
