UPGRADED VISITOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
CONTINUED FROM PAGE 19
“For example, future technology will leverage facial recognition
and video image analysis to identify threats in a way that is not
currently available, such as matching a visitor’s face to the photo
database of registered sex o enders or analyzing the visitor’s
movements, clothing and vehicle as they approach the school to
predict troublemakers or those carrying weapons.”
Using Smartphone and other passive sign-in technology,
the next generation of visitor management system products will
provide instant screening of attendees at athletic events and other
large gatherings without slowing down the process for entering the
facility.
“It sounds obtrusive, but parent groups are demanding the next
level of security,” Kohl said. “It’s just an option.”
A must for school systems is custody management for parents
and guardians, Kohl emphasized, adding, “During the sign-in
process the parent’s information is checked against the school’s
database of students and associated parents/guardian records. If
the parent matches to one or more students in the school they are
admitted.”
Multi-lingual systems are available in English and Spanish and
some are programmed for Native American.
