Grabbing an apron from the closet under the stairs, Ziva walked into the kitchen, ready to start molding some cats. Everything in The Loaf was cat-related, from the bread to the cookies. Over a dozen different trays of baked goods were waiting for them to add details to.
“By the way, dear, Stelara’s coming to visit after opening. I’m surprised the Ashcrofts let her visit so much, but I know she’s your only friend. I just can’t imagine letting a noble’s only child walk across town by herself, especially with the recent kidnappings. Duke and Duchess Ashcroft must have a lot of faith in their daughter.” Reminiscing and pondering, Madam Cohen zoned out momentarily. She had a point, though. Stelara lived far enough away that it took thirty minutes on foot to get to The Loaf.
“Don’t talk about boys too much! That was the biggest topic when I was your age. Oh, to be young again...” Madam Cohen sighed, staring into space.
“I don’t think we’ll talk about boys.”
Does she know I’m not into boys? Ziva thought to themself. I wish I could tell her about me and Stelara... We do have a customer who talks about her “dads,” so maybe Mom would accept us? Accept me?
“Well, as long as we get enough things made in time for opening, you’re free to leave with your friend,” Madam
