A love for makeup doesn’t come down to skill; what’s really important is the passion dedicated to it, the attention to detail, the precision of placing certain products in certain places, the desire to create a piece of art attached to your body. The face is the first thing someone sees when they look at a person. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if when someone looked at your face, they saw the Starry Night, or even better, the Mona Lisa?
That’s why I enjoy waking up a little early in the morning. As I lay there in bed, debating on when the right time to stand up and begin getting ready is, I get a little excited to create my artwork, to sit down at my desk, turn my vanity light on, grab my brushes, and my primers and my paints and begin turning my canvas into something I’m proud of.
I first lay my foundation as a base, which smooths and evens out the skin tone, following with concealer which is great for covering up small imperfections but is also used to highlight the bright parts of my face, like underneath my eyes, the center of my forehead, and my chin. Then comes contour, placed underneath my cheekbones, around the perimeter of my forehead and down the bridge of my nose to enhance the natural shadows my face already presents. I add blush to the top of my cheekbones, hoping it makes me look sweeter,
