CHAIR’S LETTER

                                            Carl Lathan

Happy March to each of you and WELCOME to our newest members!
March is the month when spring officially begins (March 20, 2022) and Daylight Savings takes root typically on the second Sunday in the month (March 13th this year).
This month can be a dramatic month with wild and shifting weather as Mother Nature tries to shed her winter coat. I normally realize in the month of March that my
diet plans for the year have gone out of the window and I must act swiftly in order to obtain the physique desired for summer. However, as we MARCH forward with
anticipation for what’s ahead in 2022, I find it a pleasure to address you once again.

Side Note: If you have not purchased your umbrella for the year, expect to pay higher prices as the cost of fashionable umbrellas normally rises during this National
     Umbrella Month.
Did you know: Standard & Poor’s, initially known as the Standard Statistics Company, created its first stock market index in 1923. March 4, 1957 is noted as the date of
the Standard & Poor’s 500 index creation as we know it today.

Did you know: March is Women’s History Month. In 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued the first presidential proclamation declaring the week of March 8 as National
Women’s History Week. The U.S. Congress passed a resolution establishing a national celebration the following year. We recognize the value that women entrepre-
neurs present to our great, growing economy even here in North County. Women entrepreneurs challenge the discrimination women face in the labor force every day
by driving innovation and technology and placing small businesses on our local map. Women have always worked hard, but often their work has been undervalued
and underpaid. Take a look at the amazing many women within our Chamber membership that own, operate and manage such great successful businesses. Times are
     changing!

I implore each of you to check out the many exciting and entertaining events happening within the Greater North County Chamber service area this month. You may
find the calendar of events on the Chamber website, Facebook page and in the monthly newsletter. I would like to draw special attention to the “HUNTER GAMES” SCAV-
ENGER HUNT on March 19th from 3pm-8pm. Please register online or contact the Chamber office. You don’t want to miss this (I guarantee it).
I wish each of you the best and hope you find your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

     Carl
