CHAIR’S LETTER
Carl Lathan
Greetings to each of you and WELCOME to our new members!
Congratulations to the 2022 graduates. We wish you the best.
June is here and I am very excited about it. Why? Thanks for asking! It is because May was so much fun with all the great Chamber events going on and I know there
are many more planned for June. Please check out the Calendar of Events and make your plans now to attend at least 6 (because it is now the 6th month of the year).
June 1st is Pen Pal Day! The trend of pen pals started in the 1930’s. During this age of texting, emailing, and instant messaging, receiving a letter feels that much more
special and personal. Take the time this month and send a heartfelt note to a special friend, business (owner), or acquaintance. I am sure they will appreciate it.
Did you know: The average price of gas on June 21, 2021 was $3.07 and $2.13 per gallon in 2020. Stop and look to see what it is today!!!! Crazy huh!!!!????
Did you know: June contains the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere (the day with the most daylight hours) and the winter solstice in the Southern Hemi-
sphere (the day with the fewest daylight hours); excluding polar regions in both cases.
Great inventions have really improved and provided large profits for the world of commerce. The telephone, fax machine, email and cell phones are great ways to
communicate among businesses. But SOCIAL MEDIA has taken the business world and marketing to a new level never thought possible. Advertisement executives,
marketing teams, business owners and staff are now able to reach consumers in an entirely new fashion. Just think (if you can imagine) how our Greater North County
Chamber of Commerce would be if we didn’t have SOCIAL MEDIA. Think of the many people you reach because of SOCIAL MEDIA. I have read that people use social
media for an average of 144 minutes every day. Because of its impact on society over the years, June 30th is now considered Social Media Day.
I
I hope each of you will enjoy a safe summer filled with family and friends. Due to the high cost of EVERYTHING, you may want to consider experiencing North County
events and attractions. Please support your local businesses and historical sites.
Please remember you are part of a Chamber that cares about you, your business, and the community. In order for the Chamber to be successful, YOU must be success-
ful. Our success is greatly determined by your participation in our Chamber events. Education, socialization, networking, fun and so much more can be obtained if YOU
will only participate.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
Carl
