Meet American whale researcher Nan Hauser who for 28 years has shared her time between her home in Maine and her home in Rarotonga where she does her field research on humpback whales. Nan has devoted her life to promoting and enabling whale conservation and marine research around the globe, which makes her a great example of how one individual can make a true difference in the world. Without Nan passionately pursuing the conservation of humpback whales and other sea mammals many great accomplishments would have never taken place. She is worldly renowned and was given a life time achievement award by Conservation International for her outstanding work in the aquatic world and her undying passion for these impressive animals of the ocean. Nan is the Whale Guardian.

Deepest darkest Africa... Not many know much about it, and what we have seen on TV doesn’t even begin to describe its natural beauty. Welcome to Volunteer Southern Africa, a social programme that’s over 10 years old and has hosted nearly 10,000 volunteers from 25 different countries changing lives while doing so. Here, volunteers get to live the real “bush life” as we track every step of their incredible journey.
We know that whales share knowledge amongst themselves. Now, it seems they communicate on a much more sophisticated level than previously anticipated. Together with renowned film maker Rick Rosenthal we embark on a wonderful journey: to make first contact with a new mammal culture – the culture of the whales.

For thousands of years, Korea was known for its natural beauty – now, it is better known for its conflict. But beyond the battle scars and the fortifications, there’s a land of stunning natural beauty and remarkable wildlife. There are lush wetlands and mudflats in contrast to the soaring mountains and turbulent seas; and the beautiful goshawk, bottleneck dolphin and curious raccoon dog thrive alongside Korea’s traditional people as they have for many thousands of years.
