‘Dogs in the Land of Lions’ is a deeply intimate portrayal of selflessness and motherhood in the rare African Wild Dog. In the mist-shrouded hilltops of Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve in Zimbabwe, we meet Puzzles and her mate, Jigsaw. They’re attempting to do something Wild Dog pairs almost never get right – raising a family without the help of a pack. When Jigsaw gets killed by lions, Puzzles bears the burden of securing her family’s survival all by herself.

More beautiful than butterflies, better fliers than hummingbirds and with behaviour as intriguing and complex as mammals or birds, dragonflies and damselflies are the ultimate insects. Filmed in unprecedented detail, we’ll explore how dragon and damselflies hold and defend territories; work together in strict hierarchy; and even predict their prey’s movements. A special film depicting some pretty special animals.
Roads are the largest man-made creation on the planet; they have fragmented landscapes, ushered in the ‘age of urban sprawl’ and challenged our sense of community. From wildlife corridors to cutting-edge ‘green’ road projects for the 21st century, Division Street chronicles filmmaker Eric Bendick’s quest to discover the location furthest from any road in North America.

In the south-east of the African continent lies the highest mountain range south of Kilamanjaro, the Dragon mountains. To walk in them is to be reminded of a primordial world. This is a landscape of geological and palaeontological wonders, with fossilised remnants of Massypondyris and its unhatched eggs containing the oldest dinosaur embryos in the world, bearing testimony to a tragedy that happened some 200 million years ago.

The Okavango river in south-west Africa is home to a lot of crocodiles. These ferocious predators are known to attack humans, and few sights in nature compare to the savagery of a feeding frenzy. We follow Roger Horrocks as he prepares to dive with crocs. We hear from croc attack victims and locals with knowledge of crocodile behaviour. And finally, we take the plunge as Roger enters the water and comes face to face with a 4-metre giant.
