PEOPLE & CULTURE
         incarceration nation

Indigenous Australians comprise 29% of the prison population but only 3.3% of
the population. The trauma for families and communities is unimaginable.
Indigenous people are 13-16 times more likely to be imprisoned, two of the key
drivers for incarceration are trauma and disadvantage. This documentary
connects the relentless government intervention since colonisation to the trauma
and disadvantage experienced by Indigenous Australians still today.
Incarceration Nation, exposes massacres, slavery, racism, genocide,

over-policing, and the erosion of culture. Australia is amidst an internationally
recognised human rights catastrophe. It’s time for change. Definition Episodes
