Presidents Letter
August 15-19, 2023, 65th Annual
Welcome Fans to the 65th Clackamas County Fair and Canby Rodeo.
Our Rodeo Committee has been very busy these last 12 months. With the great dedication and generosity of the community we have become one of the top rodeos in the business. I have a great appreciation for the support of the community and fans.
If you look around the arena there are huge improvements. These physical upgrades were installed by the rodeo committee construction team and volunteers. We, at Canby Rodeo, have built a talented team to continue to bring the finest entertainment money can buy. I am enormously proud to be the President of such a professional, knowledgeable, and talented team. The construction team and volunteers have put in countless hours in the last 12 months completing these projects. The Canby community should be very thankful to the men and women of the Clackamas County Fair and Canby Rodeo.
Facts of the Canby Rodeo
• Out of 641 PRCA Rodeos, Canby Rodeo is ranked 39.th.
• In 2016 Tim Bridwell was voted Stock Contractor of the year in the PRCA.
• Announcer Wayne Brooks is 10-time announcer of the year in the PRCA.
• Matt Twitchell has been acknowledged, by bareback and saddle bronc riders, as the pickup man of the year in the PRCA.
• In the last decade JJ Harrison, our Rodeo Clown has been one of the top 5 clowns of the
PRCA.
• Molly Twitchell has been chosen, for two years in a row, as the PRCA Timer of the year.
• The Calgary Stampede owner, Keith Marrington, one of the Canby Rodeo stock contractors, started his ranch in 1961 with seventy plus mares. He has grown his stock to over five hundred horses, and ninety head of Bulls on his 22,000 acres.
We can accurately call the Canby Rodeo a mini- National Finals Rodeo because you are seeing the
same Stock Contractors, Clowns, Announcer, and entertainment as Las Vegas National Finals Rodeo. The Canby Rodeo is proud to have this caliber of entertainment. It is because of you the sponsor, fans, and volunteers that make it all happen.
Again, a great thank you to each of you for the support and the fan base to make this Canby Rodeo one of the best rodeos in the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA). This rodeo cannot go on without your help!!
