5 – CANBY RODEO
Clackamas County Letter Dear Canby Rodeo patrons and
participants -
Welcome to the 2022 Canby Rodeo! Our annual Fair has been held since 1907, and our rodeo — a county staple — has been going strong since the 1950s. I love participating at the Fair and Rodeo every year because it keeps our rural traditions alive
and inspires the next generation.
Is this your first time visiting the Fair and Rodeo? Please enjoy the many family activities we offer, including entertainment at the main pavilion, the farm animals and 4-H exhibits, festive food, carnival rides and more. Our Fair is as varied as our county lands, which are urban, suburban, rural and wild. Come explore our beautiful area, which reaches all the way to Mount Hood.
For our regulars and residents: Exciting news! Our fairgrounds are getting a much-needed makeover. We are constructing a new livestock barn and multipurpose building! The Fair Board, Clackamas County, our legislative partners, and countless local advocates have worked tirelessly to secure funding for replacing the facility that was torn down many years ago. The tents we’ve used have been a great short-term solution, but the forthcoming new permanent facility will serve our community in the way it deserves.
On behalf of Clackamas County and future generations, thank you for choosing to visit the Clackamas County Fair and Rodeo and support our community.
In solidarity,
Tootie Smith, Chair
Clackamas County Board of Commissioners
Rodeo Association Letter
The Canby Rodeo Association was established in 2008 as a 501(c) 3 organization. The main purpose was to raise sponsorships to underwrite the expenses of the Canby Rodeo at the Clackamas County Fair.
The annual budget to produce the rodeo is about $260,000. The funds raised through the sponsorship plus the rodeo gate receipts are the two major sources of income.
Over the past 14+ years the Association has raised in excess of $1,060,000 for the rodeo support. In addition to the rodeo’s expense funding there have been funds expended for materials for the rodeo arena capitol improvements.
Another very important aspect of the Association’s mission is our community outreach as noted by the following contributions:
Cancer Awareness: $41,360
Scholarships: $54,500 (36 individual scholarships awarded)
Junior Livestock Auction: $12,762
Junior Rodeo: $2,950
Honor Flight: $8,500
Canby Adult Center: $2,434
Steelheader’s Association: $500
Various amounts throughout the year for 4-H and FFA activities
Canby Rodeo could not reach this level of contribution without the support of our loyal sponsors and partners in our mission. We would like to give our sincere thanks to our sponsors for their commitment to the Canby Rodeo. We also value the partnership with the Fair Board and appreciate their support. We extend a big thank you to the Canby Rodeo Board of Directors, the Canby Rodeo Associate members and great group of volunteers who work all year to make the Canby Rodeo so successful. Together we will be able to continue to do this great work in our community.
