THE POWER DARTS OF PRAYER Reading this counsel down to verses 17 and 18, we find that the instrument of prayer must be engaged to build up and release the power and might of God against the opposition. Prayer secures that much needed hand and presence of God that is the source of power for us as children of God. Ephesians 6:17-18 NKJV And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; \[18\] praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— Prayer is what we engage in that generates the darts of power mustered against the adversaries of our lives. The Bible tells of Elijah’s prayer in James 5:16-18 that it ‘avails much.’ That means the prayer made tremendous power available to accomplish his desire. James 5:16 NKJV Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 22.
