BULLSEYE PRAYERS The disciples faced obstacles to their ability to carry out their divine assignment, to preach the word of God and to heal. Noting the imperative of the flow of the word of God for saints to be built up, to become vessels of honour in God’s hands suitable for doing every good work, and for them to be blameless and fruitful as He desires, it is important that nothing be allowed to stand in the way of their ability to declare the word of God. Paul reminded us that the people cannot hear the word of God if it is not preached. Preaching of the word of God will also not be possible if people are not sent. Whatever, therefore, hinders those who are sent from speaking the word of truth will also hinder the accomplishment of all the inheritance that God has reserved for them according to Acts 20:32. From this perspective, we can appreciate that hindrance of the saints’ ability to declare the word of God is a serious issue requiring the intervening hand of God. Actually, perhaps it is not surprising that the disciples promptly mobilised their colleagues to cry to God, drawing His attention to the threats to their ability to declare his word. They were driven to cry out to Him as they had just received the promised empowerment - the gift of the Holy Spirit with evidence of 46.
