Jesus had told them not to proceed on their preaching and healing assignment, in furtherance of their mandate to make disciples of all nations, until they had received power from on high. Satan Tried to Prevent Jesus Also Jesus had also faced similar threats to His mandate to preach and heal, from satan and his cohorts, in the persons of the Pharisees, Sadducees and the priests. They all took practical steps to stop Jesus from accomplishing His ministry. Three times the devil tempted Jesus just after He came through from a 40 days and 40 nights fast under the supervision of the Holy Spirit. The whole idea of the temptations that satan brought forth was to derail Jesus from His chosen path. That would have meant compromising His ability to preach the word. Thank God Jesus had been empowered to overcome the temptations brought His way. He had been praying night and day for 40 days. It is clear that the prayers made the difference to the outcome of those bouts of threats brought against Him by satan. 47.
