BEHOLD THEIR THREATENINGS! They continued the same opposition with His disciples and this actually led to the prayer that we are examining here, “Behold their threatenings.” Paul Never Stopped Asking for Prayers Paul who himself had persecuted the disciples and believers in Christ but later had a salvation experience with the Lord, never stopped asking for prayers from the churches to which he addressed his epistles. Given his depth of insight, he understood the importance of crying to God concerning every threat to his preaching of the word. In asking for prayers, he typically used “pray for us.” This suggests prayers for himself and all those doing the work of the Lord with him. An example is given Colossians 4:2-4, Colossians 4:2-4 NKJV Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; \[3\] meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, \[4\] that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. While he was in prison in chains, Paul still asked that prayers be offered for “us” so that God would open to them a door for the 49.
