It was evidence of the opposition he faced with others to the preaching of the word of God. Yet, like others, the apostles were committed to preaching the word. We find another prayer in 2 Thessalonians 3:1-3, 2 Thessalonians 3:1-3 NKJV Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, \[2\] and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. \[3\] But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. In the face of unreasonable and wicked men, who have no faith, saints of God need boldness and courage to declare the word of God without let or fear. When these prayers are offered for saints, they receive the empowerment to step forth and declare the word of God with boldness.
