BULLSEYE PRAYERS When we yield to Him to help us in prayer, the Holy Spirit is permitted to pray on the specific issues that matter to God at that point in time. He is under no obligation to pray about what our heart desires that may in fact have been contrary to the will of God. Apart from praying expressly that the will of God be done on the earth and in our specific lives, and those of others, it is important to pray regularly in the Spirit to ensure that we pray the will of God to come to pass in our lives. When we pray in the Spirit we pray for empowerment to do the will of God. “Your will be done” is in my view a very powerful prayer that commands attention with God. It is not a ‘vague’ or ‘verbose’ prayer point as we might think, neither is it to be considered ‘too general.’ As we have seen from our discussion thus far in this chapter, it empowers us with strength to overcome tribulation that could arise at any time in our journey of life. In addition, I believe that Jesus would not have constructed the Lord’s prayer in the manner that He did, if it was not appropriate. We must recall that He was the same person who requested blind Bartimaeus to be specific in his request for mercy. He would, therefore, not dictate to us a verbose prayer point. In this regard, 66.
