EXPANDING PROGRAMS – LEGAL AID POP-UPS, RESOURCE NAVIGATORS – WHAT’S NEXT?
Meet our Resource
Navigators, Lindsey Russell
and Katee Myer! They are
bringing a much-needed
social work arm to help
keep our clients on a
path to stability as they
negotiate their legal issues
with the help of our staff
and volunteer attorneys. Originally conceived as a part of the Housing Justice Project to assist clients experiencing housing instability or facing homelessness, the program has proven to be so powerful in getting results for our clients that it is now serving existing clients from all parts of our program.
The Resource Navigator program is currently expanding, along with our Legal Aid Pop-Up program which continues
to add regular sessions in new locations, most recently Gig Harbor Civic Center, Sumner-Bonney Lake Family Support Center, Springbrook Connections, Puyallup Library, Making
a Difference Foundation’s Wednesday food distribution at the Tacoma Dome, and more. The full calendar is on our website, www.tacomaprobono.org. All pop-ups are walk-in, first-come- first-served events, no screening, all civil legal issues welcome.
PRO BONO PUP (‘I am not a kitten’)
Sammy (1.5-year-old member of Communications Director Laurie Davenport’s family) isn’t technically a pup but she has been referred to as a dogcat (sits for treats, likes people, follows you everywhere, loves to play soccer, doesn’t meow and has quite a large vocabulary). Her superpower is inventing new games and teaching her family how to play them. She is an advocate of Work from Home days (which are quite rare due to the increasingly crowded Legal Aid Pop-Up calendar).
NEW ART
And some new art which just arrived in our admin office – ‘The Conductor.’
Laurie Davenport is the Director of Development & Outreach for Tacomaprobono.
