FATE & DESTINY
Outside, the sun shone but the early spring wind was still chilly. I didn’t mind the cold air, as long as my
baby was fine.
Chedra Jamtsho came in a taxi. “What did the surgeon say?” he asked.
“He told us to bring the baby for the weekly check-up,” I replied.
“Well, you can commute from my place.”
“Thanks. Would it be okay with your family?”
“No hesitation, please. We have enough rooms.”
“Are you sure?”
He gaped. “Of course.”
One week later, we showed the baby to Dr. John.
“We would travel from Paro,” I said. “Would it be okay, doctor?”
“Why not?” he said. “As long as you don’t have any problem, I’ve no say, but bring him for the weekly
check-up.”
“We will, doctor.”
Back home, Chedra Jamtsho said, “Are you sure you don’t want to stay here?”
“It’s time I returned to my school,” I said. “I am already late.”
“But Choki can stay here, can’t she? I will take care of them.”
“Aunt Choden wants to see the baby,” I said, grinning. “They will come back.”
“Fine. Call me if you need any help.”
“Sure. Thank you.”
