stands up and walks a few steps across the deck, down the small stairs, and onto the
quay, where he politely introduces himself as "Emil," shaking hands with each of them.
Emil is a man in his 30s with light brown skin that quickly darkens, especially today with the
sun blazing. You can see that the color on his wrist has already changed where his

expensive leather bracelet is, and it rolls back and forth as he moves his arm. He has ultra-
short, curly hair, a round face with two large, friendly, and welcoming eyes under a high
forehead, which is usually occupied with sociology, the subject he's studying at university.
Under the high forehead are two good-natured, friendly eyes over a broad nose, which
again sits above a perfectly shaped mouth with full lips and bright white healthy teeth. He
sends a big, warm smile to each of them. Jonathan says, "Emil, once we're out sailing, you
can take the rest of the day off with full pay, my friend. I'll handle docking the boat again."
For a few seconds, the tall crew member stands a bit puzzled, looking alternately at
Jonathan, who is already at the helm, and the rest of the group, before finally letting his

gaze drift over the small crowd that has gathered on the quay to watch the large vessel.
"But, but you shouldn't pay me when I'm not doing anything," he says. Jonathan, now fully
occupied with adjusting the instruments around the helm, hears Emil's comment and
casually replies, "Emil, of course, you should take the day off. It doesn't matter, and of
course, you should be paid. You've already done more than you needed to. Enjoy the day
and get some studying done." It's a little before 11:00, and Andrew stands next to Jonathan

on the bridge. Jonathan has put on a pair of dark sunglasses—his beloved Persol
sunglasses—as he starts the engine on the large yacht, which elicits a gasp from the small
crowd on the quay. The engine sound is deep and hollow; after all, it's a large Volvo D13
with 2 x 800 hp diesel. Samantha and Iben are still down on the deck, and Emil is loosening
the last mooring. It's routine for him. Jonathan and the other crew member, Johnny, have
performed the maneuver several times when they picked up the boat a few weeks ago in
Stockholm, Sweden. The three know each other well. The two crew members have worked
with Jonathan for a couple of years, and they've developed a friendship. Jonathan doesn't
have many friends, but with the crew members, he shares a common interest, and he

wants the rest of the family to be part of that community. As Emil throws the last mooring
onto the deck, he nimbly jumps off the boat and shouts loudly to be heard over the diesel
engine noise, addressing Samantha and Iben, who have eagerly followed his maneuver:
"See you. Just call if you need my help. I'm just going home to study." They wave to him as
Jonathan simultaneously sets the boat in reverse. He's a skilled captain, as Andrew,
standing next to him, knows and watches closely. Neither of them pays attention to the
people watching to see if Jonathan has it under control. But to their surprise, he's really

skilled, and seconds later, the boat is free of the dock, and he deftly turns it so the bow
now faces the sea. Jonathan looks around at the others and says, "Could you please take
your seats? I need to test the engine." Samantha and Iben come up on the deck next to
