The next in this series of hitch mats, the Two-Hitch
Mat, again tripled.
The third mat in the series is made with three Half
Hitches, again using the same idea of placing the
Half Hitches over each other to start and then
traveling clockwise, anti-clockwise, then clockwise
to finish. Do be careful of the centre – sometimes
it takes a little practice to get the pattern just right
here. Again, increasing the Half Hitches by one and
the bights by two, we now get three Half Hitches
and nine bights. Based on your observation from 3
the previous mat, do you now see a square with – then pull the cord through like this.
a triangle to the top and one to the bottom of the
centre? The oval mat and this Triple-Hitch Mat have
some similarities that may now be apparent to you
in making the knot by building structures. Finish
the mat by sewing or gluing the ends as described in
Chapter 2.
