single-strand plaits
From sinnets
These two plaits form distinctive patterns even
though they’re made with only a single strand of
cord. The two examples shown here are ideal for
covering larger base materials and are derived from
sinnet patterns – hence Plaits From Sinnets.
French sinnet
Pass the working end under, over, under the first
4 tucked loop.
Temporarily fix one end of the
1 strand you are winding on to the
material you wish to cover.
2 Pass the strand behind,
then form an underhand
loop; tuck the loop under
5 Pass the working end over the loop’s standing
the first strand.
