Stress
Another stress incurred by turfgrasses is drought
stress during extreme dry periods. Warm-season
turf is typically more drought-tolerant than cool-
season grasses. This is due in part to deeper
rooting depths and the warm-season turf
photosynthesis process makes them more water-
use efficient. Deep, infrequent irrigation is the best
practice to combat drought stress periods.
