Court surfaces affect the speed and bou nce
of the
ball, with each being different. Clay courts are
usually the courts of choice,
especially for older players. Clay puts less
stress on the knees and back
during play. They do not radiate as much
heat and are therefore cooler to play
on than asphalt or concrete courts. The ball
motion is a little slower,
permitting longer rallies. Interestingly, clay
courts are not really made of
clay. The “clay” material is a combination of a
man-made plastic material,
rubber, and crushed stone or red brick.
Our clay courts were built with a subsurface
irrigation system, which reduces the amou nt
of work needed each day to take
care of the court. Along with the watering
system – our members drag the cou rts
daily after play which reduces the need for
continual maintenance. We drag the courts
