What are the best fall fruits anD vegetables?
With fall here, it is a special time of the year for produce. There are so many unique fruits and vegetables to
choose from. Squashes are some of the best because there are so many cooking applications that you can choose
from; Roasted, grilled, candied, sautéed and even pickled. The fall brings a plentiful bounty of green vegetables
as well. Spinach for salads, Radishes for pozole, brussels sprouts for that signature dish on Thanksgiving and
fresh green beans for that casserole. We all like to eat those cobblers and pies this time of year and the fall has
some amazing fruits as well. Apples come to mind with so many different ways of using them; crispy apples in a
salad with walnuts, warm apple pie, hot fresh cider with a little bourbon in it and cinnamon baked apples for your
ham. Who doesn’t love a great homemade cranberry dressing for your fall salad or even that cranberry sauce
for your turkey and cranberry crisp with some vanilla ice cream? Last but not least, pears. roasted pears with a
vinaigrette in a salad to bring out that tangy and sweet taste, a southern pear cobbler that fills your home with
the most incredible smell or even just sliced pears to eat while sitting out in your garden. So you can see that fall
is a great time to get back to your kitchen and start creating, the fall has many things to offer.
