During his storied golf career, Dutch won a number of Texas Surgical Society golf
tournaments, where he was always known as the “man to beat.” Dutch also earned the title of
Corpus Christi Country Club Senior Men’s Champion four times: 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1973.

Although Dutch’s wife and daughter Elizabeth did not play golf, they were always his biggest
supporters and truly enjoyed the golf conversations around the dinner table with him and his
sons.

Three-time Masters Champion, Gary Player wrote in The Golfer’s Guide to the Meaning of Life,

“The game leaves us no choice but to accept the good with the bad and move on to the next
shot. In other words, we take the game what the game deals us and we do the best we can
moving forward. That’s the way life is and the grand old game of golf will never let you forget

it. ”Dutch understood that principal as he must have hit 10,000,000 practice balls trying to be
the best he could be at this great game.

Dutch passed away in 2001, but the memories of his life will never fade. Dutch often said,
“measure twice, cut once.” That is why Dutch was successful in his life, family, medical practice

and the “grand old game of golf.” He always prepared for success and “The Dutch” will honor
the loving man and champion he was, and still is, by playing this great tournament forward.
