Cafe at the Commons
Location: Collegeville, PA
Design Statement: The adaptive reuse of Keigwin Hall at
Ursinus College extends the warmth and tactile materiality
of the structure through the presence of its soft red-pink
brick. Large openings that are cut through the Hall’s former
exterior have been transformed into doorways connecting
the seating area to the café service center. Upwards through
the space, the third floor has been removed to expose a
vaulted ceiling and floor joists to be enjoyed as a double-
height lounge and informal performance space on the café’s
second floor.
