mother was well known for cultivating the life plant, and brasalita which herbal remedies known for curing the cough and colds. Once someone was not feeling well, David would be sent to get these leaves and he would take it to the person. He did this gladly and willingly; this was just the kind of person that he was.
In January 2016, David suddenly became ill which caused great concern. He was rushed to the Cheshire Hall Medical Center in Provo and was hospitalized for a few days. The family realizing that David’s health was declining made the decision that he needed to be in a facility where he could receive continuous medical care. He was then transferred to the Cockburn Town Medical Center in Grand Turk and later in on 2020 to the Wellness Center where he spent the remainder of his life. The staff of the Cockburn Town Medical Center gave David the best medical care possible and his cousins Zalmunna and Nixon Dickenson and Jackurlyn Sutton often visited with him to pray and look about his personal care needs. He was also loved and cared for by the staff at the Wellness Center.
David battled renal failure for four years and received medical care overseas in Jamaica, The Cayman Islands, The Bahamas and the Dominican Republic. In his later years David became an international traveler. His final trip was to the Dominican Republic in October 2020 and he returned to the Turks and Caicos Islands on Saturday December 19, 2020. His aunt Tappy’s prayer to the Lord was that He would send her David home. On Sunday December 20, 2020 at 9:50 p.m., David closed his eyes and slipped peacefully away. Perhaps, in his final moments he was imagining the waves on the North Bay where he spent so many days as a young man skipping along the beach; or perhaps he was seeing his mother’s beautiful face with her eyes full of love ushering her beloved son to join her and all our loved ones who have gone on before. Our David, Da, Dae Dae, has now gone on to his eternal rest. His memories will always be loved and cherished by his guardian and aunt Annis ‘Tappy’ Campbell, and a host of relatives from the Campbell, Landy and Grant families. May his soul rest and peace and rise in glory.
