In The Long Term, We Will:
• Upgrade the power grid to accommodate an expanding renewable energy infrastructure. We have an ambitious goal of achieving 40 by 40: generating 40% of our nation’s energy from renewable sources by the year 2040.
• Incentivize solar production by introducing net metering, where customers receive credit for the excess electricity they generate.
In The Short Term, We Will Implement:
• Renewable Energy for Government-Owned Buildings and offices including solar panels and advanced battery storage.
• Renewable Energy for Government Schools to lower operational costs and put more funds toward educational programs.
• Community Solar Farms for at-risk Islanders to provide subsidized electricity to low-income and at-risk families, reduce energy costs for community facilities, such as clinics and recreational centres and create local jobs in the installation, operation, and maintenance of these solar farms.
