 PILLAR 4:
Diversify Economy through Invest TCI’s targeting of Local Businesses
The TCI has long been one major industrial economy from the salt industry to our present-day tourism industry. It is no longer acceptable for us to continue on this trajectory into the future. The following are a few initiatives that will plant the seeds for a diversified economy in the future:
• Grants of up to $70,000 to be provided for start-up business in a variety of areas.
• Technical assistance to be provided through the Centre for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) which will see an increase in full-time staff to accomplish the goals.
• A review to be conducted on the current concession package for start-up local businesses.
• Grants given to 100% locally own companies to reduce the likelihood of Fronting.
• Funding release will be through an approval-based system and not given in lump sums.

PILLAR 5:
Enforcement of Public and Private Understudy Program
Policies exist both in the public and private section under study programs for contract officers or work permit, but the enforcement of those policies is often the barrier between Turks and Caicos Islanders moving upward within an organization or in the Civil Service. To this end, it will be ensured that all students completing the Technical School Programs, TCICC Graduates, Graduates from abroad or persons looking to retool their skills are fed into the various understudy programs within companies and allowed to succeed. Persons that are presently on jobs who would like to retool their skill set would be required to register with the Labour Department, participate in a Technical Program then be
