Not that she's complaining: "I like being a stand-up comedian because it affords me

a lot of time during the day to hang out with my daughter," she says.

The Ontario-born stand-up's energetic presence, paired with her tireless work ethic,

is paying off. Recurring gigs on panel shows Mock the Week, along with acting roles
in Episodes and Hair, have seen Ryan become a familiar face on British TV.

A presenter slot on Channel 4's How'd You Get So Rich?, which premieres tonight (6

March) comes in the wake of the launch of her new stand up show for Netflix,
Katherine Ryan: In Trouble.

While the comedian's lifestyle might seem far from ideal for a single mother, Ryan

insists that the two go hand in hand.

"It was one of very few jobs where I realised I could hang out with her all day and

when she slept I could work - I'm a bit like Father Christmas.
