lantern slides used by Leonard Hussey, the
meteorologist and medical doctor on the ill-fated
1914-17 Antarctic venture, who kept a leather-
bound diary of the entire expedition. On his
return, he went round Britain giving talks.

On display at the interval were a fine collection of
artefacts and a “magic lantern” projector. More
than 150 people attended the evening at Penwith
College, which was sold out ten days earlier. Four
National Coastwatch stations benefited from the
proceeds of the event, which was organised by
Penzance member Graham Hickman.
