Eve Conway, incoming President of Rotary in Great Britain and Doctor Rebecca Martin from
Ireland, is fronting a new campaign to promote eradication of polio. the Centers for Disease Control
Eve is taking the Rotary Polio teddy bear on all her travels (see and Prevention gave an update
photograph, right). This is to tie in with the Purple4Polio campaign on Polio at the Seoul
and the centenary of The Rotary Foundation. Convention (25:22 mins)

The original mass corm planting took place five or six years ago, and http://video.rotary.org/6ear/
has continued thoughout the district, in both Devon and Cornwall.
John Kerridge, for instance, of Falmouth Rotary Club, said: “Some
1,000 bulbs were planted by Falmouth Parks on the verges of the
bypass and they are a delicate bloom.”
The partnership with the RHS will allow Rotary clubs to join forces
with the RHS’s Bloom Groups and work in tandem to brings people
together, transform public spaces to brighten up the local area and
promote health and wellbeing.
Purple was chosen as the crocus colour to represent the purple dye
used to mark the finger of a child who has been immunised against
the disease.
