Chapter Ten - Learning

Give me 6 hours to cut down a tree, I would spend 4 hours
             sharpening my axe’
                - Abraham Lincoln

(WATERFALL) this chapter looks at the ‘L’ for Learning
It is not a coincidence that learning is the last chapter of this book.
Essentially, it is also the last chapter in my book ‘Goldmine of Your
Mind’. Learning in business is the most important factor for
success. Without any doubt, it is also an important factor in
success in life regardless of the vocation you choose to pursue.
Formal learning is powerful, but I don’t want to give the impression
that this is the only learning to guarantee success. In navigating
life, the way we learn is through trial and error. The concept of trial
and error gets a bad rap from some people because they are
unaware of this powerful element of human traits. The concept of
trial and error allowed us to survive better most other species
created by God. How do you learn to walk? Toddlers first stand up
and fall so many times in a day but every time they fall the brain
codes the experience and learning take place.
Taking the first step is the same and you probably get the idea
now. It is the same way we learn to talk. It is the same way we
learn to write, and the learning continues throughout life.
As an entrepreneur, you must learn from your mistakes and correct
them quickly. The cleverer thing to do however is to learn from the
mistakes of others. How do you learn from the mistakes of others
is through reading their books or listening to their speeches or
attending their courses? That’s enough about learning from
mistakes. I want to share with you something much more
inspirational about learning; it may propel you from small to
gigantic fast. Learning about breakthrough strategies the greats
have adopted to create monumental success. I have read almost
all the biographies, autobiographies of almost anybody who has
accomplished anything significant in the world. I have also gone
back in history to study these great men and women to extract
common themes and the uniqueness of individual journeys. You
must have noted that I am fond of referring to people like Henry
