HANDPHONE POLICY

According to GIIS-ICT policy 2018 (Section 11.5.2), the school prohibits the possession of

mobile phones by the students in class rooms. Violation of this act will result in the seizure

of the mobile phones. The seized phones will be kept in the admin office, and will only be

returned to the parents upon signing a declaration form. Repeated violation of the act

(more than one time) will end up in taking disciplinary action against the student.

The sub clauses of the section 11.5.2 are:

(A) In general, students should not bring valuable items to school, as they can be easily lost

or stolen. Parents need to be aware that mobile phones are brought to school entirely

at the student's risk and the school accepts no responsibility for replacing lost, stolen or

damaged mobile phones.

(B) If a student uses a mobile phone in the school premises to take photographs or video

footage of any kind, it will be regarded as a serious offence and appropriate disciplinary

action will be taken. Images/videos of other students or staff taken will be removed by

the student in the presence of their parent/guardian.

(C) Parents are reminded that in cases of emergency the school office remains a vital and

appropriate point of contact. Contact numbers during school hours: 019 319 2388 /

Annexure: Pursuant to sub clause (A) of section 11.5.2:

GIIS will rent out security boxes and pad locks to students at RM 50.00 per

month. The rent for the security box is to be paid on a termly basis.

Only registered students are to use the security boxes. Sharing/sub-letting

strictly prohibited.

Students are to keep the keys safely. If the keys are lost, they can get duplicate

keys for a small fee.

Students are required to ensure that their security boxes are locked properly.

The security boxes shall be opened by the students only after school hours

(after dismissal).

Mobile phones kept in the security boxes are students’ responsibility.

Surveillance camera will be installed in the vicinity of security boxes for security

purposes.
