Our District Project
As we prepared to print this handbook, the world around us began changing. A
global health crisis forces us to cancel events, rethink our plans and confine
ourselves to our homes. Travel has stopped and connecting with one another by
electronic means becomes our sole option.
Some are calling this a troubling time, others a scary time. Yet, He who created life
and established the length of our days; is He not Lord over today and tomorrow?
This season we live in is not an obstacle, it is an opportunity. To borrow the words
of Esther’s cousin, Mordecai, “Quizás este es el momento para el que has sido
creado." “Perhaps this is the moment for which you've been created." Esther 4
Two years ago, God directed us to Southern Mexico as we were moved by the
images we saw of the devastating earthquakes. Since then we have sent five teams
to listen, to work, to pray and to connect. In July we sent a six-member team
composed of three women, two men and a 12-year old diabetic girl. We transported
vital electronic equipment, helped construct a roof for a multipurpose training and
compassionate ministry center, cleaned up an impoverished neighborhood and
distributed clothing to its residents, and developed deep bonds with the local
church. We were within days of sending a sixth team in March when all mission
travel was halted. Yet project money that you contributed had already been sent
and work begun on a vital district ministry and training center. Plans might change,
but Kingdom work continues.
South Asia project money helped with scholarship support of a family who are
concluding their studies at Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary. Soon they
will be returning to Bangladesh and organize efforts to train up leaders in the
church. We will also assist delegates from the South Asia Region to attend the 2021
global NMI convention, and we will help pastors provide instruction to South Asia
Nazarene Bible College students.
This is the value of our giving. WEF finances the effort of the CON around world,
and your district project pledge goes toward specific, current projects. It may put
some of our feet on their soil, but ultimately it enhances the ministry of the local
church to bring the transformational gospel of Jesus Christ to their part of the
world.
Your faithful giving does more than provide land and building materials, it
encourages the church in far-away places that they are not alone. Their God is our
God, their church is our church and their
welfare is our concern.
Missions is already looking different this year
than last; different but not impossible for we
serve a God to whom nothing is impossible.
He never said follow me IF the circumstances
allow it. He never said go make disciples of
