Maintenance Tips For PCM Etching Equipment Pumps
• Process pumps are usually centrifugal
• Either magnetic or direct drive sealless
• Typical centrifugal pumps cannot self-prime
• Magnetic pumps must be installed below fluid level in order to prime
• Sealless pumps are typically installed vertically with the impeller immersed
in the process fluid.
• Magnetic pumps are most often found as filtration, recirculation and rinse
pumps. They are also used as the main process pumps on smaller machines.
• Sealless pumps are usually the main process pumps

Maintenance Tips For PCM Etching Equipment Pumps
Magnetic Pumps Typical Faults
• Wear or breakage of the support shaft
• Debris lodged between the housing and
magnet
• Debris caught in the impeller
• Magnetic debris sticking to the magnet
• Loss of magnetic “lock” between the impeller
and the drive magnet.
• For many faults with this type of pump, the motor will be running but the impeller will not be spinning.
