A moment of tremendous upheaval in the motion picture industry saw a revolt against Hollywood’s bland output from the previous decade which allowed more independent films to become commercially viable and they began seeping into more mainstream fare.
TUE: The Black voice in cinema, directing mavericks, and life and death issues. (the death penalty and right to die).

THUR: Excerpts from: Dead Man Walking, Boyz in the Hood, Silence of the Lambs, The Professional, Reservoir Dogs, Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, The Sixth Sense, The Big Lebowski, The Matrix, Wag the Dog and Do the Right Thing will be evaluated for their statements about contemporary culture of the time. on select topic.
