MON: The box office controls US inventory of films, and those movies along with social media impact the moral compass of the world. Few studio films but bigger extravaganzas. Streaming films give indie filmmakers a voice and distribution.
TUE: The rise of excessively violent horror films, super heroes as a morally superior, military PTSD, racism, Women’s issues and the unmasking of injustices are at the core of the cinema in this decade.
WED: Horror films find a conscience. Contemporary criticism of Hollywood will be discussed. What will be the next trend – VR, AR and reactive movie making.
THUR: A brief look at the following films will illustrate contemporary focus of cinema today. Zero Dark Thirty, Argo, American Hustle, Spotlight, American Sniper, X-Men, The Serbian Film, The Evil Dead, Iron Man 2, The Dark Night Rises, Moonlight, Fruitvale Station.
