Participation (10%): Students are expected to have read or watched any assets for the class ahead of time, so that he/she can participate regularly in class discussions. Participation in their team project and the overall Multi-Media Class Project will be expected at the highest level. Needless to say, the nature of the class participation depends on regular attendance. The majority of the grade will be on each student’s active participation on all levels including the frequency and the quality of a student’s contributions to class discussion. Active participation allows students to test and develop new ideas, pose discussion questions, and engage in the kind of lively debate that generates strong, sound, critical positions about media, art, and technology.
Absences: I take regular attendance and factor it into each student’s participation grade. Students can miss two classes without it affecting this portion of the grade. Each two classes missed beyond that amount will result in a full grade deduction from the final course grade. Students should see me during office hours to make up any course material missed due to an absence or should contact another student in the course for his or her notes. I do not provide detailed catch up information over e-mail.
